The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training course is recognized internationally as a vital program that promotes a common language among healthcare providers. Unfortunately, this training course is not available in Palestine. This project aims to change that by providing Palestinian physicians with access to a fully funded and certified ATLS course.
Trauma is a widespread issue in all societies, and due to the disparities in trauma care in Palestinian and Israeli hospitals, it presents an opportunity for collaboration and the formation of lasting relationships.
Supported by a US$600,000 USAID grant over two years, the project offers:
- Two-day joint training seminars every two months for 10 Palestinian and 10 Israeli physicians at Wolfson Medical Center in Israel, as well as Trauma Team Training at Tel Aviv Medical Center.
- Improved survival rates for trauma victims in the region.
- Professional development opportunities for Palestinian physicians who would otherwise not have access to the course.
- An annual regional conference that brings together course graduates and leaders in the trauma field.
- The chance to participate in a three-day "Positive Peace" workshop with other graduates.
- The establishment of a cross-border medical network of 400 Palestinian and Israeli trauma physicians with professional, personal, and collective relationships.
Rotary Provides Seed Funding
